Residential trash and recycle service is set up through utility billing at the city by calling 972-547-7550. Residents are provided with a 95 gallon polycart for trash and a 65 gallon polycart for recycle. Trash and recycle are picked up once a week on the same day. The city will let you know of your collection day at the time you set up services. 

Your carts must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day to ensure service. Carts must be set at least 3 feet away from any stationary items such as mailboxes, fences, cars, or gas meters to eliminate the risk of damaging property. The lids must be closed and facing the street.  All trash should be bagged and tied to ensure no spillage of trash on the streets and yards.The trash and recycle poly carts are the property of IESI and should remain at the home if the residents moves. If you are moving into a home with more that one poly cart for trash and recycle please notify IESI so that arrangements can be made to have one of them picked up unless you wish to pay for the additional carts.  If you need more than one cart, please call the city to place that order.

Acceptable Recycle items are:

• Aluminum Cans
• Chipboard (cereal boxes, soda boxes, etc)
• Glass bottles or jars
• Newspaper
• Magazines
• Phone books
• Plastics #1-7 (milk jugs, juice jugs, laundry detergent jugs, etc)
• Junk mail advertisements

IESI will pick up yard waste each week on your regular pick up day. Yard waste has to be in brown biodegradable bags.  The bags can be purchased at any local hardware or grocery store.  Limbs should be cut 4 feet in length and in bundles of no more than 50 pounds. Yard waste needs to be set at least 3 feet away from your trash and recycle carts on your regular trash day.

Residents get two free bulk pick ups per year. Bulk is limited to what 2 men can pick up in a 5 minute period.  Bulky items consist of appliances, furniture, toys, or extra trash. If you need an appliance picked up that has Freon, it will need to be tagged by a certified technician stating it is free and clear of Freon. The landfill will not accept it without that tag nor will IESI pick it up. 

Bulk pick ups must be scheduled by calling IESI customer service at 469-452-8000 or e-mailing iesimckinney@iesi.com  and will be scheduled on your regular pick up day or Saturday if that day is not full.  Please call at least 24 hours in advance of your normal collection day to schedule the pick up.  Since spaces on the list are limited, make sure you call in enough time.

If you have carpeting, flooring, fencing, or any construction material, that can be picked up for a fee. This will need a Supervisor to give the estimate on the charge. You will need to call IESI to get that scheduled and the material must be curb side. No IESI employee will go onto your property to take a look at the material. An alternative to dispose of items is taking them to the North Texas Municipal Landfill at no charge. You will need to bring your most recent water bill and your drivers’ license. Commercial dumpster service is set up through the city utility billing department by calling 972-547-7550 or by going onto their web site. You can choose between 3yd to 10yd dumpsters to be serviced up to 6 days a week Monday through Saturday, depending on your needs. When you call the city to set up this service, they will go over the options to best suit your needs as well as give you the monthly rate. Once you have called and set up service with the city, you can call IESI customer service with any questions or concerns you may have about your service or dumpster. Roll-off and compactor service is set up by calling the city as well, 972-547-7550. Once you have set up service and have your dumpster delivered you will call IESI for each time you need the can serviced, hauled, or if you have any concerns.
